Seniors will piece together a creative badge.

Our class will incorporate all the required steps plus a ton of creative fun while completing the Senior Collage Artist Badge. All supplies are included. Our Studio Director, Melanie Terry is a lifetime member of the Girl Scouts and is passionate about spreading her love of creativity!

Actual Badge is not included but all requirements will be met to earn the Badge. There is a minimum of 6 girls in order to carry out the event. Senior Collage Artist Badge

2-hours, $25 per girl – Each Girl will take home a Strathmore Art Journal Kit

Step 1-Explore collage – Read about 3 collage time periods or styles:  The workshop leader will discuss three different time periods or styles of collage. The leader will show pictures of different collages and discuss the historical and artistic significance of each. The leader will also discuss different types of adhesives and what works best for different types of collage.

Step 2 – Focus on composition – Compose a collage using cubomania:  The girls will construct a collage using cubomania. They will use their art journal to mount their finished collage and also learn how to make straight, even cuts using cutting tools.

Step 3 – Create with color, choice of concept:  The workshop leader will do a brief presentation on color theory and discuss monochromatic colors, complementary colors, and color mixing. The girls will then have a choice to create a collage using only one color, using a color theme, or using a study in color harmony. They will make the collage in their art journal.

Step 4 – Use found objects – Create a collage from everyday things:  Create a collage using 3-D materials (combine) or on a found object (piece of wood, lamp, shoe, etc) or from everyday things (like receipts, napkins, cutlery, sugar packets etc). The collage will be made in their art journal.

Step 5 – Share a message – choice of message:  The girls will choose to make a collage with a message (social commentary) or an advertisement or create a self-portrait (can be interests not physical appearance). They will make the collage in their art journal.
